50 first words

The child's 50 first words include 'ta' and 'please' which will have been reinforced by the parents as they will be rewarded for being polite and will use these words when they want to ask for something. A lot of the words on the list will have been learned through imitation such as 'hiya' and 'hello' as they are greetings used regularly by people. The child is likely to have observed these greetings being used to them by their mother or other adults. Other words such as concrete nouns might be learned through imitation and reinforcement as they will see people give different names to different objects and pick up on this. A lot of the nouns they pick up on will be objects used regularly in their day to day life as these words will be repeated by the parents when put in front of the child so after a while they will begin to associate those words with the objects and learn to say them.
